Photos of fireworks are cool. Photos of lightning are cooler. Photos of comets are even cooler.
A single photo with fireworks, lightning and a comet is SICK. Full size image here.

The guy in the photo above, my friends, is yours truly at the shooting range. Not something I normally (ever) do. I turned out to be a pretty decent shot. I tried two handguns: a big one and a smaller one, and an M16.

You can check out the targets below… all of them are with the handguns from 3, 7, and 15 yards away. Then there’s one from 25 yards with the M16. Not too bad, considering I didn’t think I’d hit anything at all.
This was shown at a recent meeting at work and drew big laughs. No idea if people outside the tech industry find it as funny, but feel free to share your thoughts.

This is what the whole Mac Defender malware thing happens: Don’t be fooled by it!
And be sure to always run the latest version of Mac OS X!
I bumped into this last week. One day I will look back at this photo on my iPhone 23 and laugh at the backwards fuel-powered four-wheel contraptions we had to drive. In the meantime, I wonder if my Civic qualifies, as I walk all the way from the normal parking, surrounded by gigantic trucks and SUVs.
PS: Poor hipsters drive fixed-gear bikes.
People sometimes ask me if I’ve advanced at work. Well, I’m happy to say that I just moved up… to the eight floor! This is what I see from my windwow. If it wasn’t for the apartment complex, you’d think I’m in the moon of Endor.
The ADL, the nation’s premier civil rights organization is running ads in The New York Times, The Washington Post and the International Herald Tribune calling attention to what Hamas is.
This is in light of the reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah. The PA has declared that they will unilaterally seek statehood recognition at the UN on September. Hamas, who rejects Israel’s right to exist and is openly Anti-semitic (among many other things) would become part of the government of such state.
Check out the ads by clicking on the image below and feel free to spread them.

Prey is an Open Source software project for locating your lost or stolen machine. You install a faceless background service on your computer that runs every X minutes. When it runs, it connects to a server and asks “Is the computer reported as missing?”.
If it is, it takes a webcam photo, a screenshot, gets the geographical location of the computer (think GPS but without GPS hardware which your laptop probably lacks, using WiFi triangulation instead, similar to this) plus some other info. It then uploads the results to the server.
All configuration is done from the website. This way the program on your computer is harder to find and thus to uninstall. Most thieves will not know where to look and there’s a good chance they aren’t sophisticated enough to even format your computer.
So, don’t be a schmuck and wait for your laptop to be stolen: install this thing. It’s free, it’s invisible until you need it, and it may recover your computer one day.
Edit: Removed a redundant mention of “background service”that was repeated and also unnecessary. Pointed out by Daniel Jaramillo.
Thanks co much to everyone who:
