The “Learn English with Andy” series was meant to help make this a better world. But so far, only a few hours after the initial post, a flood of (two) comments, which were very ironically written in Spanish, seem to suggest that The MKX® is not the best channel for educational material and should instead focus on other things, such as stock market analysis or photographs of feet.
The MKX® is today the giant media conglomerate it is thanks to its readers. In an unprecedented move, we will let you choose the faith of the rest of the series (which has been already fully written and only awaiting publication).

My good friend Andy was born a long time ago in a small village called Monterrey, in the depths of the Mexican desert. He likes long walks on the beach, muscle cars, eighties rock music, and ponies. Andrés moved to the United States to fulfill his many dreams. Like many before him, he was faced with the daunting challenge of learning a foreign language.
Today, Andy is a fluent English speaker and a successful investor. But never one to forget his roots, he initiated, through a partnership with The MKX®, a short series of lessons that will teach the reader the proper use of a common English word. This is the first installment.

Last night I attended a concert by chassidic reggae sensation Matisyahu. Ironically, the show was at a decidedly non-kosher place: Stubb’s Bar-B-Q. Love their chopped brisket sandwiches.
Just proving my point. Very quick and dirty sketch of Mr. President elect using a mechanical pencil.
Feel free to read part 1 and part 2 of this series. They were posted a while ago and I apologize for leaving thousands of readers waiting for the part 3. Part 3 will talk about:
Unlocking the flavors of Jaffa
Jaffa (pronounced Yafo, spelled יָפוֹ) is one of the oldest ports in the world. It’s right south of Tel Aviv and is actually part of the same municipality, creatively named “Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality“. The last week of my recent trip I was honored to eat tons of food while in Tel Aviv and Jaffa. Below I begin describing as best as I can some of the highlights in Jaffa. Get ready to get that stomach growling.
Hummus
For hummus (חומוס), Itay and Ziv Erlich took me to Abu Hassan. This is a really small yet well known place in Jaffa that opens in the morning and closes when they run out of food, right around 2 P.M. Their extensive menu: Pita. Hummus. Warm Hummus with garlic.
To put this in perspective, it’s like having a restaurant in Mexico where all they serve is refried beans and tortillas. And it’s packed and there are crowds lining up for it and they run out of beans in the middle of the day. It’s unheard of (when it comes to refried beans) and that’s how good it is. It’s awesome.

As you know, last night Barack Obama was elected President of the U.S. I have my political and ideological opinions but I doubt people read this blog for those so I’ll spare you (summary: thumbs up).
Frankly, I was sick and tired of the elections and I’m glad it’s finally over. It was the only thing that was on the news, on every conversation over lunch or coffee, on TV, everywhere in the last months. Ready to move on to the next topic of interest: soccer.
One observation though: Independently of which side of the political spectrum they may fall on, caricaturists around the world have got to be thrilled at the outcome. Obama is a caricaturist’s dream come true. With that square chin, the thick eyebrows, the huge smile that’s all upper teeth, the long head, and above all: those wonderful ears. I mean, McCain had the abnormally big and flabby cheeks… but those ears are a joy.
Looking forward to four or eight years of political Obama caricatures. Oh, and conversations about soccer.
