No Europolla 2008

I’ve received a large number of emails these past few days from people that took part in the wildly successful FIFA World Cup 2006 and La Polla América 2007 pollas asking about the 2008 Europolla.

Unfortunately, we will not be having a polla for the Euro2008. The reasons are:

  1. It’s a ton of work.
  2. There are unresolved technical issues with the entry fee collection.
  3. Mexico doesn’t play, so my personal level of interest decreases greatly.

Sorry to everyone who wanted it. This is not the end of the Pollas though. Stay tuned.

Lucho Pérez

Yesterday, as I was walking aimlessly in the International Terminal at Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez in Mexico City, I bumped into the Mexican National Team on their way to play against Ghana.

All the other players ran ran away at the sight of a drunken fan, but thankfully Mexico’s (and Monterrey‘s) star midfielder Luis Ernesto Pérez was too busy buying a milkshake and couldn’t escape. Here’s the proof:

At least one of these two fine gentleman will go to Germany this summer.

By the way, did you know you could buy Indio beer for $29 pesos and then walk around with the bottle in the airport? Neither did I. What a pleasant surprise!

Off to Monterrey!

Tomorrow morning I’m driving to Mexico for thanksgiving (no turkey – lots of tacos).
Not only do I get to spend 4 days over there, I also get to go to the stadium to see Monterrey VS Pachuca (quarter final) on Thursday and Gustavo Cerati in concert on Saturday.

Also, it’s almost that time of the year again: the hollidays. Those it mean I get into the whole christmas spirit thing? No. It means I need to stack up on the Nochebuena beer again. It has to last for a year!

Jealous?
