This is a very cool photograph I was recently sent of my great-grandfather Elías Zack, whom I never met. It must be from the late 20’s or 30’s. Hmmm… interestingly it bears a striking resemblance with a certain photo of mine. It really is pure coincidence. I wonder what else I’ve done that turns out to be totally unoriginal.
One thing I tell you: which version of Photoshop they used for this one, it’s an old one.
I guess it was bound to happen. Whenever you meddle with something that is dearly beloved by millions of people around the world, yo’ve got to expect some sort of backlash.
It happened to us when we redesigned. Worry not, our studies clearly indicate that a vast majority of readers prefer the new design and we are not going back.
However, in order to satisfy our nostalgic selfs, we present below a pictorial of previous designs for The MKX®.

This guy Alejandro “Richie” Corona has started a Facebook group protesting the new design of The MKX®. He even created a logo, showcasing his MS Paintbrush skills (yes, Paintbrush, not Paint… he never upgraded):
Join if you want me to go back.
Some people just seem to always go against change. These are the same people who are still playing Pong on little black and white TVs. They IM each other using ICQ. They browse the internet on 14.4 kbaud/s modems using Netscape Navigator. They still fax jokes to each other and carry a boombox around.
To join their group and stay behind in the dark ages, go here. If the group reaches a membership of five (5), then I will go back to the old layout. And if you send this email to all your friends, then Bill Gates and AOL will deposit $5 to your bank account for each of them.
As you can see, everyone’s favorite Internet destination has a new look.
Please let us know what you think. We spent millions of dollars hiring an Italian design firm to work on this and really care about your opinion, as a paid subscriber. Vote now!
The MKX® is proud to present an all new design. We had not updated our look since 2005 when we first moved to WordPress.
This new look is based on Thematic by Ian Stewart, heavily modified by Moi of Moiblog and myself (but mostly Moi). Some of the exciting stuff in this new design, in no particular order:
Everything looks a little better, is more readable.
Cool random header images.
Better navigation.
Category icon is next to title, not post content. This was done through an ugly hack, for now.
Directly subscribe to The MKX®.
Many, many internal improvements.
Expect a few tweaks here and there in the following days as we clean up any last details, and feel free to report through a comment anything that doesn’t look right. Enjoy!
Below you can see soccer idol Francisco Javier “El Abuelo” Cruz with my friend Yoni Wapinski. Turns out that sometime in the mid-eighties the players of best Mexican soccer team Rayados de Monterrey came over to my school. Someone snapped this photo and it hung on a wall in Yoni’s room ever since, making all of his friends that came over very envious.

Yes, the photo is a photo of the original photo, hence my reflection.
A brilliant move by the Republican candidate John McCain: Pick a running mate that looks just like King of the Hill‘s housewife Peggy Hill. They have my vote. No, never mind. They don’t.
Myth: Nomadic tribes living off the desert all over the Middle East in their tents. Their ancient customs still intact. They offer to buy your women in exchange of some number of camels and tell you tales from the past while you drink tons of coffee and tea.
Looks like I’m not the only celebrity in my family: In a news report for this year’s Hot Sauce Festival, local news station KXAN digged through their stock footage looking for beautiful people at previous editions. Check out the watermarked video embedded below:
Thanks to Antonio Lie for actually watching the local news and alerting me of the cameo.
P.S. Oh no! Blogger faux-pas! In a terrible turn of events, I’m shown in that old video wearing the same t-shirt as in the previous post.
