I stopped by at Fry’s Electronics tonight, and they had one of the new iMacs in there… the ones with the built is camera and the little Photobooth application. I played with it for a couple of minutes. Results below.

Along the lines of Wednesday’s concert, I went to see Juanga to San Antonio on Saturday.
Yup, the crowd was quite different.
This guy is now 55, and doesn’t move or sing like he used to, but his show is still quite good. He has an awesome mariachi band, and everytime he does one of his effeminate gestures (which was very often) the crowd would stand and go wild. And of course, his interpretation of the timeless classic “Querida” brought tears to everyone present.
In other news, it seems we were pretty lucky to go see him that night because tonight in his Houston concert he fell from the stage and banged his head and wrist quite hard, so the tour may be over. Poor Juanga.

Last night I went to the Depeche Mode concert in San Antonio with Eva, Yoshia and Nathan. It was very good, even though in the row in front of us they were smoking cheap cigarretes during the whole concert, on our left there were 2 goth teenager girls screaming the WHOLE time and right behind our heads there was a hallway where people kept spilling beer, and as a result, someone slipped and there was even a fight.
And, don’t worry, the photo above was not taken by me, it was taken by someone else in Houston a few nights earlier. I was sitting muuuch farther away from the stage last night.
Anyway, the band played about half of the new CD and some of their classics. Also, my friends Johnny Kings and Sandra were there, although I didn’t see them.
On Saturday: Juanga
In the spirit of Halloween, I carved a pumpkin for the very first time.It was a very educational experience. I decided to carve the globe. I carved out the full American continent, Africa, Europe and parts of Asia, but if I did Russia I’d be left with no pumpkin.Unfortunately, after a day, the pumpkin collapsed right on Panama (note to self: next time leave the Panama Canal in for support).Debbie carved a very scary angry face. It was much scarier after the thing sat in the kitchen and I got back from spending the weekend in Monterrey. It grew some strange foamy white and black fungus inside (note to self: next time don’t eat it).
A friend is making a study on blind dates and is asking people to fill out a very short survey.
The staff of "The Marcos Kirsch Experience" wishes you a very happy 5766 full of big-screen TV’s, strippers and beer (a.k.a. happiness).
Oh yes, and from someone who is quarantined with a fever and what the doctor described as "massively inflammated tonsils", watching Magnum PI and Los Polivoces reruns all day long, missing Rosh Hashana for the first time in… well, 27 years, may you also have a very healthy year.
A couple of weeks someone asked me:
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to post any pictures from ACL because I left my camera with Sofía. Instead of taking any decent pictures, she decided she wanted to take 38 photos of the behind of overweight ladies.
Thank you.
However, Jaramillo did take a good picture: Introducing Diego at ACL
Yesterday, despite the record heat and the earlier soccer game, I decided to go to the Austin City Limits festival. I bought a last minute ticket from some guy who decided he had had enough of the 40 degree Celsius temperature for about 1/6th of the regular price.
Franz Ferdinand and Coldplay were the big attractions of the night (during the day I saw some smaller bands) and they were excellent. I’m especially surprised by the show put on by Coldplay. I heard Oasis was terrible last night though, that’s too bad… and Aterciopelados canceled because of the hurricane Rita scare.
I will say, I have never seen so much dust and this morning I was still coughing mud. It was worth it though.
I’ll upload some photos later tonight.
