A 2000 mile wide storm is covering Austin by now. Temperature is at -5° C and can reach -8°. Sure, for those of you in Chicago it may be nothing – but for a desert flower such as myself it is too much to bear.
Remember how cold it got last year? This might be worse. At least no hail is expected.
E.A.S.T. was held on the second and third weekends of November. My attendance this time was not as intensive as previous years due to travel and visits. It was still very enjoyable.
Here are three tips for those of you attending next year:
The event is HUGE. Use the map to plan what you want to see. Time spent researching ahead of time pays off while touring.
The quality of the art is all over the place. It goes from junk to masterpieces. Again, research well to save you some time and disappointment.
Talk to the artists. They have interesting things to say, and they love to talk about what they do. You will never annoy an artist by asking him about his work.
Surprisingly, people in town don’t know about E.A.S.T. despite it’s colossal size. Spread the word and bring some friends!
Today was the first ever Gypsy Picnic Trailer Food Festival. Food trailers have been popping up everywhere in Austin these last few years. The great thing about food trailers is that you can drive them around, so finally somebody had the great idea of putting a festival together at Auditorium Shores: Good, varied, affordable food all in one place.
While my personal sanity was not entirely restored and thus the rally a resounding failure, I did manage to snap a few photos and had a good time while doing it and checking out the show…
The 20th Anual Austin Hot Sauce Festival was held on Sunday. Unfortunately, it was so hot and the lines were so long that I only got to try a few sauces before looking for air-conditioned refuge. My favorite this year: Don’t Panic Hispanic. Unlike past years, it does not seem that the press was alerted of my presence. Good, because I hate paparazzi.
