Democracy. A new era.

It wasn’t easy, but after spending man years of research and development, the staff of The MKX® has added the ability to have polls on this website.

Actually, it took me about 5 minutes to install and get up and running a cool WordPress plugin called Democracy. And some 10 minutes to put together the beautiful photo collage adorning this post.

So, witho no further ado and in order to start with a bang, our first poll will be a politically charged one:

Vote now!

Underdog – The movie

I kid you not.
The super-powered dog (a.k.a. Supercan in Mexico) from the beloved (by me) sixties cartoon is coming to the movie theater in a live action film. Jason Lee is doing the voice (good choice). I wonder who’s going to play Polly Purebread Top Reporter.
Here are some photos:

For the very few who don’t remember Underdog… watch him:

Hidden music gems

Thanks to the marvel of the internet we have access to thousands of fantastic independent artists we may not hear about otherwise. Here are three incredible music videos from Ecuador. You may not have heard of any of these artists, but based on the quality of their music, trust me, you will. They’re going to be bigger than Elvis.

Thanks to Cesarín for the tip.

Disclaimer: There is a strong possibility that you will go deaf and/or blind after watching.

Why Vista Sucks Reason #433

At work, on my test machine… if I press the PrtScn key (to take a screenshot, of course) the computer freezes completely, requiring a hard reboot. This worked fine on the same machine using Windows 2000 or WindowsXP (which aren’t exactly works of art either).

On a happier note, I’m scheduled to receive my new Mac later today.

[Update 1/22/2007] Mr. Bhadra confirms his computer freezes when pressing the PrtScn key as well. Even on a clean installation of Vista with no third party software. Maybe the key should be re-labeled Self-Destruct.

Back from Mexico City – Miriam’s wedding

The chuppah. Ain’t they cute?

Marcos surrounded by cute girls that all look alike.
It’s like a Robert Palmer video!
(and they’re all too young to know what that means)

My cousin Miriam finally decided to settle and married Isaac. About freaking time. You can see photos of the trip (and mostly of the wedding) at The MKX® Photo Central.

I also had a chance to spend some quality time with Liat and Joelle. See video below.

Finally I want to point out that Aeromexico opened a direct flight from Austin to Mexico City. Hope it stays around and it stays around cheap. Their food is usually better than Continental’s and the beer is still free. Gotta love them.

[Update Jan 16, 2007]: Fixed photo caption (David is Robert). I thought I had fixed it before I posted. Weird. Maybe I’m not qualified to write a blog.

New merchandise!

As of today, a new and exciting product hits The MKX® Gift Shop.

This beautiful 100% cotton t-shirt is printed with original art by “engineer by day, sound asleep by night” Marcos. It depicts a completely fictitious character based on no actual person, living or otherwise. Comes only in “Queensryche black” that hides tomato sauce stains better than any other color, except for red. You can buy it for man or for woman,. although for the life of me I can’t imagine why a woman would ever want to wear this (or a man for that matter… consider this item part of a larger social experiment).

Don’t delay, buy now! Gift it to any one of the many enemies of the person the drawing is based on. All profits (which are slimmer than you’d think, even though the t-shirt is quite expensive to the consumer) go to the Buy Marcos Some New Videogames Foundation.

No ugly people were harmed making this blog.
