Things to do on a long weekend

Not bad for four days, and this isn’t even a comprehensive list. Thanks to Lema, Sam and Anya for visiting and for a fun time.
End of an era

Since we haven’t had any Mega Parties in a while, I figured there was no reason to keep the place around anymore.

Beer bottle collection
For years I accumulated this incredible collection of beer bottles. It breaks my heart to say goodbye, but I no longer have the room for them. All that is left left are my memories and these photos.
I haven’t yet gotten rid of them. If you want them, you can have them. They look really nice on a well lit display.
Back in ATX
I finally got sick of the perfect East Bay weather and insanely high rent prices: I moved back to Austin, TX this week after a year in sunny California.
While I will surely miss all the perks of living in the Bay Area a few minutes away from San Francisco, it sure is good to be back. I hope to get settled quickly and meet up with all my friends soon.
Engagement FAQ
I’ve been receiving a lot of questions, so I decided to post answers to the most common ones here in a convenient FAQ form.
- I heard you got engaged. Is it true?
The rumors (and many many many Facebook comments on our walls) are true. Sorry to make you lose your long standing bet. - Who’s the unlucky girl?
Shlomit. She’s way nicer than me. - I thought you were already married to a Mac Plus.
That’s not a question and it’s illegal to marry inanimate objects in most countries anyway. - How did you get her to agree to marrying a loser like yourself?
Shhh! She doesn’t know. Please don’t say anything yet. - When will the wedding be?
We don’t know yet. - Where will the wedding be?
See #5 - Did the news break a lot of hearts?
No, just one. - Is it too late to send engagement presents?
No it’s not! Please don’t be shy. You can always check The MKX® Wish List for ideas. Don’t forget to bookmark! - So, is that the ring you gave her in the photo?
It was, but I got hungry and ate it before I had a chance to give it to her. She said yes anyway, but I owe her some candy. - How will this affect the future contents of The MKX®
Unless the FCC shuts me down, expect the same kind of low quality garbage from these pages. In the pre-nup the only things I get to keep are this blog and my collection of mint Star Wars action figures. I have Lando Calrissian in its original box. What she doesn’t know is that they are rare collectibles and will be worth MILLIONS one day. Don’t throw them away mom!
Thanks to everyone for your kind words on this important step for us. We are very happy and the best is yet to come.
Rabbi Moises Kaiman Z”L
This morning Rabbi Kaiman (Z”L) passed away at age 97. He was the Rabbi of the small Jewish community in Monterrey since 1944. He presided over my grandparents’ and parents’ weddings. My dad, my brothers and I were all circumcised by him, and studied for our Bar-Mitzvah with him in his house.
He was loved by his Jewish community and by the people of Monterrey in general. May he rest in peace.
My left knee
This wouldn’t be the first time I post images of my insides… no, it would be the third one (one, two). But like my mom always used to tell me, when judging people, it’s what’s inside what counts. Or something like that.
In any case, here’s an animated MRI of my left knee that just looks too cool to pass up. I used OsiriX, an amazing Open Source medical imaging software for Mac OS X, to generate it from the original DICOM files.
