Christmas vacation

I just had two days off from work because of Christmas.

This year, I did not follow the Christmas custom of going to the movies and eating chinese food.

Instead I went to Houston on Thursday (Rony Levinson was in town), and him, David, Betty and I went to one of those parties they have every year.

Then we drove back to Austin for another one of such parties and to play FIFA (mostly to play FIFA).
note to self: I’m no longer undisputed king, I must practice, defeat gives me shilshul.

Then we drove back to Houston for yet another one of these parties. Which actually turned out to be a lot of fun.

The “can’t get much lower than this” highlight of the night: A vietnamese dude showing off his calf in a Starbucks at 3:00 AM. Although it might have been a nightmare. I’m not sure anymore.

As a closing thought for this post, I want to say that whoever I told what I was doing (the back and forth traveling thing) would ask me the same thing: “Why would you do that?”. I wish I had a penny for every time I heard that. But even more so, I wish I had an answer.

Off to Monterrey!

Tomorrow morning I’m driving to Mexico for thanksgiving (no turkey – lots of tacos).
Not only do I get to spend 4 days over there, I also get to go to the stadium to see Monterrey VS Pachuca (quarter final) on Thursday and Gustavo Cerati in concert on Saturday.

Also, it’s almost that time of the year again: the hollidays. Those it mean I get into the whole christmas spirit thing? No. It means I need to stack up on the Nochebuena beer again. It has to last for a year!

Jealous?

New Orleans Tour 2004!

I got back from New Orleans last night. Daniel “catarrin” Jaramillo, Alejandro “chaparro” del Castillo, Luis “Brody” Navarro, Andres “Andy Boy” Marcos and myself rented Dolores “Lolita” Chrysler and spent 4 unforgetable days (although some of us already forgot some parts of the trip due to the extreme circumstances). Also, Anders Meisters, Claudia and Paula Lorente, Jimmy and Jeremy joined us some of the time.

New Orleans is a lot of fun. The drive is long but Lolita’s DVD player and the “Monterrey Campen Clausura 2003” Collector’s DVD helped make it more enjoyable. Bourbon street is amazing, a cross between Austin’s 6th street, Amsterdam’s Red Light District and a giant toilet. Cajun and Creole food are great. You can listen to great live jazz all over the place… you get the picture.

I’ll post some photographs of the trip tonight or tomorrow.

UPDATE [July 17]: I have uploaded the pictures now! Two albums: this one and this one. I’m still missing photos from Claudia and Jimmy.

UPDATE [April 12 2007]: Fixed links.

Tons of photos

I uploaded lots of photos from last weekend’s trip to Monterrey.
Jave’s house before Becky’s party
Becky’s Bat-Mitzvah
At the rancho
At Moi’s graduation party

If you are not in the pictures, or you want to complain that somebody is in LOTS of pictures… it’s not my fault. All photos were taken by Debbie or Jacobo. Basically, if it looks like the picture was taken from below… it was Debbie. All photos of buffet tables, flowers and decorations taken by Jacobo were censored. Sorry.

New photo albums

I have uploaded 3 new albums.
One is from the AEPI party last week.
The other one is from a barbecue we had at Chai’s place some time ago.
Last but not least, a few pictures we took in Mexico last weekend on my trip to Monterrey.

As usual, I’ll remove the albums some time in the near future so save anything you want. Don’t forget to post your comments. Also, if you want, email me for higher quality versions of the photographs.

Enjoy!

Shana Tova!

Happy 5764!
I went to Monterrey for Rosh Hashana. Yossy, Tomer and Carlos came with me. Funny to take an israeli to Mexico and all he gets to eat is Yiddish food (*very* good Yiddish food). Yossy had his first gefilte fish and he liked it.
All in all a very good start for a new year.

National Lampoon’s San Antonio Vacation

Saturday night I drove to San Antonio to meet with my uncles David, Ruthy, Rujele, Isi and my cousins Jacobo, Rachelle, Joseph, Taly, Julieta, Rebeca, Rafa, Jacobo, Karen, Eduardo and Alex (phew)… We went to Sea World yesterday. It took 1 hour and 20 minutes from the gate to the first rollercoaster, it’s hard to move so many people around. Nice to see them all, it’s been over two years since I saw some of them.
